Jazz on a Summer Evening

The Southern (formerly Southampton) Jazz Guitar Society was formed around 1995 and is 'dedicated to fostering the art and craft of the jazz guitar'. Members get together on regular club nights to play, listen, and talk 'guitar'. The society also organises workshops on various aspects of playing jazz guitar, with visiting guest artists such as Jim Mullen, Phil Lee, Rob Koral, John Parricelli, Mike Outram and Nils Solberg.

The Summer Concert is held every year as a memorial to the late Terry Cole, who was one of the founder members of the SJGS, and a well loved and respected player in the local area. There will be guest musicians on various instruments joining a number of guitar-playing regulars. If the weather is kind, the concert will be held in the garden of the Abbey Hotel. Food and drinks are available from the hotel and picnic chairs are welcome.
