'John Keble: Poet, Scholar, Church Reformer and Vicar of Hursley'
by Paul Gardner
Paul Gardner will discuss the life of this extraordinary man who for thirty years, in his secluded parish at Hursley, was perhaps the best-known vicar in England.
Whilst Keble was a classics tutor at Oxford, he delivered a sermon that rocked the nation - changing the shape of the Church of England through the Oxford Movement that in time he came to lead. The author of many much-loved hymns, Keble was also a poetry professor at the University which now has a college named after him.
