Noye's Fludde

This small-scale opera by Benjamin Britten is based on the medieval Chester Miracle Play which tells the story of Noah's Ark. Drawing together professional and amateur performers, and encouraging audience participation in the singing of well-known hymns, it fulfils Britten's intention for a whole community musical experience. The Bridge Quartet is featured alongside Glynn Evans - principal recorder player with Hampshire County Recorder Ensemble, string, brass, recorder and percussion ensembles comprising local children led by Kate Poole and James Eaton, top vocal soloists and a large chorus of animal parts, bugles, a local hand-bell team, and even a wind machine! Directed by Robert Fielding, the performance will be staged centrally in the Abbey with video screening.

This bringing together of professionals, amateurs and members of the community embodies the unique spirit of Romsey Arts Festival and will provide an evening to remember!
