Church Bell Ringing - Lockerley Bell Ringers

Church Bell Ringing - Lockerley Bell Ringers
The quintessential English village scene: cricket on the green and from the church across the way the sound of bells. Full circle bell ringing is very much an English art form and one that has been conducted in the same way for a few hundred years. You now have the opportunity to see the bells and bell ringers, either on closed circuit television in the body of the church or on a conducted visit to the ringing chamber.
The numbers permitted in the ringing chamber will be restricted; be warned, this involves a climb of 32 steps. A 'mini-ring' will be set up outside the church, so that you can come and try your hand at bell ringing. Light refreshments will be available and car parking is available outside or just to the north of the church. This event will take place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th. Don't forget to visit the East Dean Festival, just two miles along the road.
